Hi, I’m Tara

Founder of Hue & Bloom Studio, and your Colour Analyst and Personal Stylist based in Nottingham

I started Hue & Bloom Studio because I know what it feels like when colour and style click into place, and I wanted to give that to other people. Not a passing trend, but something with lasting value – helping you feel more like yourself every time you get dressed and giving you one less thing to think about.

Colour and style have been a running thread throughout my life. I had my first colour analysis as a teenager and it changed how I thought about getting dressed (and finally deterred my mum from buying me orange clothes!). Over the years, I’ve spent many hours exploring vintage kilo sales, searching for interesting cuts, quality fabrics, and colours you don’t always find on the high street. Like many people, though, I’ve also had phases where comfort won entirely and black became my default (hello, pandemic work-from-home era).

During that time, like many others, my body, lifestyle and priorities changed. I lost confidence in my personal style and found myself reaching for comfort over everything else. Rediscovering colour and learning to dress the person I had become – rather than trying to recreate an earlier version of myself – reminded me that style isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about feeling comfortable, confident, and authentic in your own skin.

I came to this work via a fairly unconventional route. After spending over a decade in professional environments – first as a scientist, then as a project manager – I reached a point where I wanted to build something that brought together my analytical skills, creativity, and long-standing interest in colour and personal style.

After experiencing burnout and receiving a late neurodivergent diagnosis, I also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of comfort, practicality, and creating systems that genuinely work for the individual. This perspective now shapes the way I work with clients — because style should fit into your life, not create another set of rules to follow.

In 2025, I trained professionally in colour analysis and personal styling with Style Me Training Academy, turning that interest into Hue & Bloom Studio – a business dedicated to helping others understand what works for them and feel more confident in what they wear. Since then, I’ve continued to develop my knowledge through further professional training, including advanced colour analysis with the Italian Image Institute.

My background shapes how I work. My scientific training taught me to observe carefully, look for patterns, and explain complex ideas clearly. My project management background means appointments are structured and purposeful, while over a decade of client-facing work has taught me how to listen properly and translate what you need into practical, personalised advice.

If you’ve ever felt that styling advice doesn’t quite account for how you actually live, that’s something I think about too.

I work with women and men across Nottingham, Derby, and the East Midlands, offering colour analysis, wardrobe edits, and personal styling that help you build a wardrobe with intention – one that works for your lifestyle, reflects who you are now, and gives you confidence in getting dressed every day.

When I’m not with clients, you’ll usually find me walking Lennie, my retired racing greyhound, exploring vintage kilo sales, planning my next adventure, or drinking slightly too much coffee. The science, the creativity, and the slightly chaotic enthusiasm all seem to find their way into Hue & Bloom somehow.

If you’re ready to work together, or simply have a question, I’d love to hear from you. I’m looking forward to leading your style journey – helping you discover and build a wardrobe that feels authentically you.
