Please find answers below to frequently asked questions. If you do not find the answer to your question, please feel free to contact me.
General
The Hue & Bloom Studio style journey is designed to build your personal style step by step – starting with your colours, then making the most of the wardrobe you already own, before bringing your personal style to life through shopping.
Discover – Colour Analysis
Discover your colour confidence and find the colours that lift and enhance your natural features.
Build – Wardrobe Edit
Build your intentional wardrobe with a fresh pair of eyes on what you already own, helping you create a wardrobe that feels purposeful rather than accidental.
Bloom – Personal Shopping
Bloom into your authentic style by uncovering your style personality and bringing it to life through thoughtfully chosen pieces that express who you are.
You don’t have to book the whole journey at once. I recommend starting with Colour Analysis and adding the next stage when you’re ready.
Colour Analysis
16-season Colour Analysis can be booked directly through my website. Simply choose your preferred appointment date and time and complete your booking with secure online payment. You’ll then receive a confirmation email and appointment guide with everything you need to know before your visit.
Wardrobe Edit, Personal Shopping and styling packages
These services begin with a complimentary 15-minute styling discovery call, so we can chat about what you’re looking for, and make sure the service is the right fit for you. From there, I’ll confirm the details, pricing and next steps before you book.
You don’t need to decide on your whole style journey upfront. If you start with Colour Analysis and decide you’d like to continue with a Wardrobe Edit and/or Personal Shopping afterwards, we can add the next stage when you’re ready and apply the relevant combined-service saving.
Yes! If you’d like to continue your style journey, you can save when you combine services:
Save £50 when you book any two services from the Hue & Bloom Studio style journey (Colour Analysis, Wardrobe Edit, Personal Shopping).
Save £100 when you book all three services – the complete style journey.
These are the maximum combined-service savings, so other discounts are taken into account rather than stacked on top. For example, if you’ve already had a Double Colour Analysis, you’ve already received a saving on the Colour Analysis itself. You can still save when you add another service, with the total saving brought up to the £50 maximum for two services.
If you book the complete style journey, your total saving can reach £100.
Yes – gift cards are available for all Hue & Bloom Studio services and make a thoughtful way to give someone the opportunity to discover their colours, refresh their wardrobe, or explore their personal style.
Colour analysis gift cards can be purchased directly in our Shop as digital or physical gift cards. For other styling services please get in contact so we can discuss your requirements.
Full details can be found under the booking terms – please take a moment to read this before booking any services.
Absolutely. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable, confident and in what they wear.
Hue & Bloom Studio welcomes clients of all genders, identities and backgrounds. My approach is centred around understanding you as an individual – your lifestyle, preferences, and the way you want to show up in the world.
Absolutely. I want every client to feel comfortable and able to enjoy their experience.
If you have sensory preferences, accessibility needs, or anything that would help you feel more at ease during your appointment, please let me know when booking or beforehand. I’m happy to discuss adjustments wherever possible.
This might include things such as:
– reducing unnecessary sensory distractions
– taking breaks during your appointment
– adapting the pace of the session
– considering comfort and fabric preferences as part of your wardrobe choices
My approach is always personalised – because the best style choices are the ones that work with your life, not against it.
Colour Analysis
Colour analysis, also called seasonal colour analysis or personal colour analysis, is a method used to identify someone’s most flattering colour palette – colours that harmonise with a person’s natural colouring and enhance their complexion. Colour analysis has its roots in colour theory and colour science, and gained widespread popularity in the 1980s following the release of Carole Jackson’s classic book Color Me Beautiful, which introduced the four seasonal groups: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Most modern colour analysis systems assess a person’s best colours using three key characteristics: depth (light or dark/deep), intensity (bright or muted/soft), and undertone (warm or cool), as observed in the skin, hair, and eyes.
Colour analysis is for everyone! While it has historically been marketed primarily to women, it is increasingly popular with men as well. At Hue & Bloom Studio, anyone is welcome for an appointment. The methodology I use to determine your colour analysis result – home season and sub-season – is consistent, but the recommendations are always tailored to your individual needs.
I do recommend waiting until at least age 16, as natural colouring can continue to develop through to the late teens.
I completed my initial in-person colour analysis training through Style ME Training Academy, having completed their CPD-accredited course. Since then, I have also completed my advanced colour analysis “Armocromia” training with the highly regarded Italian Image Institute, and certified to offer a more refined 16-season colour analysis using my existing tools to my clients.
I determine your best seasonal colour palette by assessing depth (light or dark/deep), intensity (bright or muted/soft), and undertone (warm or cool) using precision-dyed colour drapes. While hair and eye colour are considered, as well as the relative level of contrast between your features, the most important factor is how your skin responds to the drapes. I look for colours that even out your skin tone, minimise lines or dark circles, lift your features (such as jawline definition and brighter eyes), and create an overall appearance of wellbeing.
The drapes I use are from a highly regarded company with over 40 years of experience, trusted by colour analysts across the UK and around the world, ensuring accurate, professional results.
Once your home season is identified (Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter), I’ll refine your analysis further to determine your sub-season. Each home season has three possible sub-seasons plus four ‘True’ seasons, which is why this approach is known as 16-season colour analysis. Your sub-season is determined by the dominant characteristics of your colouring, allowing us to find the colours within your home season that are most harmonious for you.
Currently, I only offer in-person sessions.
My studio is specifically set up for colour analysis, with ideal natural lighting and a calm, relaxed atmosphere – perfect for focusing on your session away from the distractions of home. For this reason, I generally recommend appointments take place in the studio.
In certain circumstances, I may be able to travel to you. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements, and I’ll see what can be arranged.
I offer a limited number of Saturday appointments throughout the year. Please check my booking calendar for current availability.
Evening appointments are available at selected times during the lighter summer months when there are longer daylight hours. As colour analysis relies on natural light, this helps ensure the most accurate results.
When you book and pay your appointment, you’ll receive your Colour Analysis Appointment Guide along with your confirmation email – this will cover how to prepare for your appointment. In brief, I recommend arriving free of fake tan and makeup, as these can affect the analysis and your results.
If you have recently developed a significant tan, you’re still welcome to attend. However, if you would prefer to have your colouring assessed once your tan has faded closer to your usual colouring, you may choose to wait a few weeks to book an appointment or reschedule.
If your hair is coloured, the analysis can still go ahead – I will take this into account during the analysis by covering your hair.
Absolutely – provided the recipient is happy for you to join the session. I’m always happy for a friend or family member to attend and share the experience.
My studio is a cosy, dedicated space rather than a large salon, so there isn’t a separate seating area, but I’ll make sure you’re comfortable and able to observe the session. Please let me know in advance so I can prepare the space accordingly.
When you book your appointment, you’ll receive your Colour Analysis Appointment Guide along with your confirmation email – this will include full details of the studio location.
The studio is based in Wollaton, Nottingham (NG8) and is easily accessible from the city centre and the A52 for those coming from the Derby direction. It’s also just a 5-minute walk from Wollaton Hall, Gardens and Deer Park main entrance and from the NCT number 30 bus route.
Wardrobe Edit
A wardrobe edit is a supportive and personalised styling session designed to help you make the most of the clothes you already own.
Together, we’ll review your wardrobe, identify what is working well, uncover pieces you may have forgotten about, and create outfit combinations that feel practical and true to your lifestyle. We will also declutter any pieces that no longer fit in with your current lifestyle.
At the end you’re left with a wardrobe that makes getting dressed feel easier and leaves you feeling more confident. The goal isn’t to create a completely new wardrobe overnight – it’s to help you understand what works for you, reduce decision fatigue, and build a wardrobe that feels more intentional.
A wardrobe edit is perfect if:
– You feel like your wardrobe no longer reflects who you are
– Your lifestyle, body, or priorities have changed
– You have lots of clothes but still feel like you have “nothing to wear”
– You find yourself repeatedly reaching for the same safe outfits
– You want help creating more outfits from pieces you already own
– You’d like a clearer idea of what gaps are worth filling before you shop
Wardrobe edits are suitable for women and men who want a more intentional, functional wardrobe that feels aligned with their lifestyle and personality.
You don’t need to be interested in fashion or have a particular style already – a wardrobe edit is about discovering what works for you.
Wardrobe edits take place in your home, so we can work directly with your existing wardrobe.
I’m based in Nottingham and cover Nottingham, Derby and the wider East Midlands. Travel up to 20 miles is included, with additional travel charges potentially applying beyond this.
Not at all. Wardrobe edits are available as a standalone service.
If you have already had a colour analysis, we can incorporate your seasonal colour palette throughout the session. If you haven’t, we’ll focus on your current wardrobe, lifestyle, preferences, proportions, and the styles that help you feel your best.
That said, if you’re looking to completely refresh your wardrobe or want guidance on the colours that will work most harmoniously for you, a colour analysis can be a helpful first step. I also offer colour analysis and wardrobe edits together as a package, with a saving compared to booking the services separately.
Before your session, we’ll have a consultation call to discuss your goals for your wardrobe, understand your lifestyle, any upcoming events, and collect information on your sizing. This is so we can dedicate as much time as possible to your wardrobe on the day of your appointment.
During your appointment, we’ll start with a brief body shape analysis using a questionnaire and discussion to explore proportions, shapes and styles that help you feel your best.
Then we’ll work through your wardrobe together, creating outfits, identifying opportunities, and discussing any gaps that may be worth considering.
If you’ve already had a colour analysis, we’ll also use your seasonal palette as a guide throughout.
Sessions are up to 2 hours.
Most wardrobes can be covered within this time, but if you have a larger wardrobe or would like additional support, extra time can be arranged (pricing for additional time can be located on the service page).
A little preparation can help us make the most of our time together.
I recommend having your wardrobe accessible before I arrive, including clothes, shoes and accessories you’d like to prioritise for review. But this doesn’t mean you need to organise or tidy everything beforehand – seeing your wardrobe as you naturally use it can actually be helpful.
Not at all.
Many people book a wardrobe edit because they feel overwhelmed by their wardrobe. You don’t need to have a perfectly organised space – that’s exactly where a fresh perspective can help.
The process is supportive, practical and completely judgement-free.
Absolutely not.
A wardrobe edit is not about forcing you to throw things away. My approach is thoughtful and collaborative – we’ll look at what you love, what you wear, what works well, and what may no longer support your lifestyle.
Some pieces may simply need styling differently, while others may no longer feel right. The decisions are always yours.
Within 7 business days, you’ll receive a follow-up email covering what we achieved during your session. This includes: styling notes, outfit combinations identified, a shopping list for any gaps we identified together.
Yes, but this is a separate service.
A wardrobe edit focuses on making the most of what you already own. If we identify gaps afterwards, personal shopping can help you find specific pieces that work with your wardrobe and personal style.
If you’re unsure which service is right for you, a complimentary discovery call is the best place to start.
Personal Shopping
No. You can book Personal Shopping as a standalone service. If you’ve already had your colours or body shape analysed elsewhere, or you simply know you’re ready to explore your style, we can start from where you are.
I do recommend starting with Colour Analysis if you’re beginning your style journey, as your colours can then inform the rest of the process.
Yes. Most Personal Shopping with me takes place virtually, so you can work with me wherever you are in the UK. You’ll receive your recommendations in a personalised digital lookbook, with links, prices and styling notes so you can shop from home.
Yes. I offer in-person Personal Shopping in Nottingham on weekdays by request. I’ll research and pre-select pieces where possible before we shop together, then we’ll try things on and refine your choices. In-person Personal Shopping includes up to 4 hours together and light refreshments. Note that additional hours can be arranged.
Yes, I offer Personal Shopping and styling to everyone, and tailor the service to your individual style, lifestyle and shopping goals.
That’s absolutely fine. Personal Shopping doesn’t have to mean a complete wardrobe overhaul. Your brief might be as focused as finding an outfit for a wedding or special occasion, or it might involve a wider selection of pieces.
You’ll typically receive around 3–5 personalised looks, depending on your brief. The exact number will depend on what you’re looking for, your budget and what’s available, as the focus is on finding pieces that genuinely work for you, and fulfill your brief, rather than hitting an arbitrary number.
Not at all. The final choice is always yours, and there’s no obligation to buy everything I recommend. My job is to give you thoughtfully considered options and help you see possibilities you might not have considered yourself.
If you’re slightly unsure about a piece, I’d still recommend trying it on – sometimes you can surprise yourself!
Absolutely. I’ll work within the budget we agree at the start and look for the best options available within it. I’ll also be honest with you about what’s realistic – for example, a complete wardrobe refresh with premium brands may require a larger budget than a smaller, more focused shopping brief.
My aim is to make your budget work as hard as possible, whether that means prioritising a few key pieces, looking at different retailers, or exploring pre-loved options.
Yes, if you’d like to explore it. I won’t expect you to shop second-hand if it’s not for you, but it’s something I personally value and a significant part of my own wardrobe is pre-loved or vintage. I think there’s something great about giving good-quality pieces a second life, both from a sustainability perspective and because you can sometimes find something a little different from what you’d see on the high street.
For virtual shopping, I can include pre-loved pieces from places such as Vinted and eBay where they fit your brief.
If we’re shopping together in person and you’re particularly interested in pre-loved pieces, we can also explore charity shops. As second-hand stock is unpredictable, I can’t guarantee that we’ll find a complete look that meets your brief.
The Personal Shopping service is designed around the agreed brief.
If you’d like to significantly expand your brief or need additional research beyond the original service, we can discuss this before any extra work is carried out. Additional time is available at £75 per hour, by agreement.
